when i decided to get a turkey sandwich today for lunch, and began telling the ghetto-fab woman behind the counter what i wanted, i was hardly expecting what she said next.

you do it yoself! y'all grooooown!"

indeed. everyone i ate with was present, and laughing hysterically at me, therefore producing our first inside joke.

when i first arrived, i was overwhelmed with the amount of sleazy gals and jocky, old-guy looking guys. seriously, it seems more high school than high school was. but i am so glad that i have met some really cool people. last night, hanging out on our newfound 'chill' spot "the wall" with jess, maraysa, kari, chris, brian, and emily was so fun and today just wandering around and eating dinner and discussing old nickelodeon shows with dana, jared, molly, jill, and that whole gang has been so fun. i am psyched that i am meeting such cool and similar people.

whyy am i suddenly updating more now that i'm in school? aren't i supposed to have less free time or something?

i thought i should give a little more thorough update.

yesterday was fun- the mocktails sucked and everyone was gross and sweaty, but i got to meet meg, dana, marisa, maraysa, and reunited so-to-speak with brian, chris, and jared.

though everyone was so exhausted that after dinner (which involved aggressive black men's hands grabbing at our trays) and random meetings, everyone was exhausted. kari and i decided to chill in our rooms, and chris and maraysa ended up coming over and watching most of dazed and confused which is amazing. basically we were so tired that we went right to sleep. boring, yes...but sleep was needed.

and there were already creepy upperclassmen roaming through the halls trying to advertise frat parties...skeeetch.

today, jared, kari, and i ended up meeting this kid jeff who joined us for breakfast and we found our classes...aka went into air conditioned buildings for an hour. good times.

OH YEAH! our room. it already looks like it's been lived in for weeks.

kiiind of my side of the room. i went crazy with the bulletin board they provide, and brought my strokes poster (And a breakfast club one that you can't see.)

our appliance area...look how crazily the fridge, microwave, and tv are stacked. omgaaah.

i hope everyone is doing okay, and i am pretty homesick for various reasons. but i'm sure that i will find my niche here, hopefully!

p.s. anyone else hate dorm showers so far? :)

i'm so giddy right now ...slash such a wreck. i leave tomorrow to stay at my aunt and uncle's house, and saturday morning around 8:30 i move in.

in the past week, i saw dogma which is an amazing movie, reminisced with christine about 2gether and hanson, did some random driving and saw princess diaries two with rachael (it's a hawt movie...don't hate), spent time with kristi, and went to dinner with alissa at chili's.

now, i feel obliged to say my goodbyes to everyone, even those i've already said my goodbyes to in person. deal with the cheesiness, bitches! i limited myself to 10 and tried to keep it short, so feel free to smack me and/or get mad if you're not on here. and geez...we're all keeping in touch anyways so PSSH this is kind of useless.

1. Jen: yeeeah, so i've already said bye to you at the beginning of the summer, but you are sooo my partner in crime and bff. i love our weekly-ish phone chats and how we can totally understand what the other is talking about when everyone else can't. as well as our fondness for platonic boylove and hot boiz in general, goooood music, and random adventures. as promised, even more validation of why we are amazing, 'cause only we can have conversations like this:

a modern trance: hmm i haven't listened to otown in such a long time...
a modern trance: maybe i should find it and listen to it
polkadot panic: haha i did like a month ago, it was so good
polkadot panic: all you suckas better recognize, ya heard?
polkadot panic: lol remember "a little bit of coke, a swirl"
a modern trance: hahah i gotta listen to itttttttt now
polkadot panic: haha dejpseitfk me too otownxcore
a modern trance: indeeed, that brings back memories of creative writing and harrison
a modern trance: remember when i walked by his computer screen to see if i could see his sn?
a modern trance: that was like beginner stalking days
polkadot panic: OMG YEAH
polkadot panic: haha yeah this does remind me totally of creative writing
polkadot panic: gotta stop at in n out, get a #3 hold the onions please!
a modern trance: eeeeee
a modern trance: god i loved dan
polkadot panic: omg dan was fucking...ahhh
a modern trance: hahah YEAH
a modern trance: duuude this is soooo good!
polkadot panic: w/ a tongue ring..hahahaha
a modern trance: lskngv whaaaat?
polkadot panic: "with a tongue ring, i want a girl like that, doin her own thang...”
a modern trance: ohhh haha
a modern trance: i thought you were referring to dan...with a tongue ring
polkadot panic: dgfkjrije
polkadot panic: i wish
a modern trance: that would be good :D
polkadot panic: umYA
polkadot panic: omg from the damageee
polkadot panic: this song made me feel bad for jacob lol
polkadot panic: i was like...ahh depression
polkadot panic: this song rocks
a modern trance: umYEAH...this cd rocks dude
polkadot panic: grammy worthy
a modern trance: seriously
polkadot panic: i've been acting sooo pathetic....
a modern trance: i gotta change, gotta blame it on ALL ME
polkadot panic: dan had such a good voice..sigh
a modern trance: omg...number 7
a modern trance: can you say uhhhhuh
polkadot panic: i know this was the coke swirl song
polkadot panic: i loved it
polkadot panic: i was like umm dan can make me say uhhh
a modern trance: baaahaha
a modern trance: remember the oh-uh/buck-o controversy?
polkadot panic: me and molly were arguing if he said "yo, oh no"
polkadot panic: OMG HAHAHAAiekujrehtre
a modern trance: god i missed otown!
polkadot panic: haha i cried when dan sang
a modern trance: hahaha
a modern trance: otown 4EVAH

Kristi: LiKe OmGz I LuV YoU! haha you are amazing and we have about 8 years worth of fun and randomness and umm send me food.
Andy: i'm surprised you don't hate me after my torturous behavior in middle school. you're awesome and your brother's hot. you'll miss my dramas, i know it.
Jamie: i'm bringing your homemade b-day card of "rarely seen shags" to adorn my dorm room as well as the shag video. elusive shagsters & evan fucking featherstone will live on. i also love how i say "kill me" (in a good way) constantly now. mi'scusi!
Alissa: you were my first friend here, and i'm so glad that we have managed to stay friends throughout middle and high school! have fun in vermont, missy.
Kelly: you're so awesome and such a sweet girl- i loved livejournal stalkage in journalism, bowling, and going to shows with you! go for pat plz <3
Jacob: thanks mary-kate and ashley.
omfgz! people are disappearing, and it's making me sad. jamie and julie are gone, and i leave on friday, so i'm trying to see a ton of people within a few days.

friday i went to curly's for the last time in a while, and met up with kelly. we grinned and giggled like annoying little children the whole evening because, as we have concluded through a new equation, skinny, beautiful pat = god. seeing him at warped and various shows has led us to believe that it's either fate, or he's just really scene. our fears of him thinking that we're stalking him are completely valid! except that we're not. but anyways, it brought a tear to my eye (almost...okay it didn't) because curly's, like, seriously changed my life. whoa.

umm i would looove getting mail at school, so if you want to send me love letters, mix cds, food, or other random things, please write to meeee.

Kim Windyka
Marist College MSC 13795
3399 North Rd
Poughkeepsie NY 12601

if anyone wants to be entertained, go to PolaroidScene. well, i get a kick out of it at least- random LA hipsters who looked coked/heroin-ed out of their minds...and the occasional appearance by a random rockstar.

while I'm at it, and cuz everyone loves lists, here are the things i will miss about living in amherst, in no particular order:

-random driving- who can forget seeing bodybags jumping on his trampoline, alone, or the search for the creepy house that led us to the pedophile van parking lot in lyndeborough?
-gas station stalkage- "That'll be 23 dollars. Have a nice day." The beauty. There couldn't be a better job for them to have, and for us to ogle at.
-the boooyz- yeah...going off of the whole gas station thing. lunchtime shagfests, hackeying, and skateboarding. probably the only worthwhile thing at souhegan.
-center of town the parking lot, moulton's, the library, the green, and countless adventures.
-trips to boston- greeeat concerts (phantom planetx2, aussie invasion, rooney, warped), thrifting, and taking the T. I always hated boston until this year, and now it will be dearly missed. but now there will be NYC!
-FNX- yes, i will miss a radio station. there will never be any comparison to FNX in terms of good music, everrr.
-curly's- like i said before, i found my niche at this place. i saw that there was life and more like-minded people outside of souhegan. not to mention i met a bunch of rad people through going there.

ehh, yeah that's about it. mundane things, yes, but i will miss them just the same.

uhh i kind of really need to see the new princess diaries movie & napoleon dynamite again.

ahhh: ummm they are definitely playing "breaking the dawn" by washington social club on FNX right now. and interviewing them. and evan fucking featherstone is talking alot. gawwwd!

...if you play me a dancing song

warped tour rocked...a lot. the "punk pilgrimage", as i titled it, was nothing short of amazing. between good music, semi-decent food, free swag, 500+ shags and one huge (and i mean HUGE) afro, the day was good.

julie drove, and we made it there in greeeat time.

the pilgrimage began from a parking lot far, far away...well not that far.

little did we realize that there were literally a zillion kids already waiting in line.

julie and christy..aww so cute!

julie and i...my flat iron had already betrayed me at this point.

i snagged these two from the warped site. the crowd was insane and there were lots of tents and things to check outttt.

we had basically come to see washington social club, so we were stressing that we had already missed them by the time we got into the venue. but as luck would have it, we ended up getting front and center for their set. niiice!

everyone's favorite brooding rock god, evan "fucking" featherstone, wearing a silly hat.

that's better.

they put on an absolutely amazing show and totally saw us dancing and singing along. we chatted with marty, the lead singer, in their tent after the show, and before we could say anything, he said "hey, you guys were at the phantom planet show, right?" and after letting him know of our profound love for WSC, he replied, "yeah, i saw you guys singing all the words, that's intense!" love it.

we ate on the ground in true rock 'n roll fashion (err...not)...haha my lone $8 chicken nuggets and fries are on the ground.

we ran into kelly, too! we gushed about our rock star encounters (hers with the hot dude from socratic) and met up a few more times. we even have kinda-matching pearls!

this guy had white makeup on, though this pic fails to show it & it was quite icky. goth is over, dude.

i really liked this band, the kinison, who i had never heard before. madness ensued when they brought kids up onstage to dance with them. it was amazing.

there was an insane amount of trash. imagine a huuuge stadium parking lot covered like this.

after a day of intense warped-ness, we still looked pretty darn cute.

in total, we ended up seeing washington social club, the kinison, some of sugarcult, some anti-flag who i don't really even like, the end of "try honesty" by billy talent (i loove that song), most of yellowcard, and a bit of taking back sunday. fun! we missed the used & coheed and cambria since they were on much later, but oh well.

other random happenings include:
-seeing a ton of kids wearing TREOS shirts...they weren't playing, so it was weird but cool.

-the mohawked lead singer of Anti-Flag ranting, reeeeeeally really loudly: "IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT YOUR HAIR LOOKS LIKE! IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT COLOR YOUR SKIN IS! IT DOES NOT MATTER WHAT YOUR SEXUAL PREFERENCE IS!" and various political freakouts. it was entertaining.

-trumpet player in planet smashers that frolicked with said trumpet and then broke it.

-A random kid who walked by us in line singing "i'm from texas, my state is better than you fuckers" or something to that effect.

-a really bad white british rapper lady who was just...the worst ever.

-free drive-thru records cd and a fuse pin!

-the above-mentioned 500+ shags. there could never be such a high concentration of shags in one place again.

so, really fun times. ahh..um i need to hang out with people i haven't seen in a while!

today i get a message on my answering machine from the marist rug place, saying that they received another order from a girl in the same room, leo 612, who didn't recognize my name as her roommate. rfkgjmnfirkd i'm in a triple??!!

but not to worry. the random girl had number dyslexia or something and was actually in 621. she'll probably end up being my bff...or not.

alerrrrrt: if i see one more of those cursed poncho things displayed in a catalog, draped over some unfortunate soul's body, or in a store, someone's getting hurt!!

also, i made a napoleon dynamite shirt & ahh it's so cute. i used this iron-on thing and it was cool.

warped in twoooo days. two! lemme know if you're going so we can meet up plz. i must take lots of pictures.

also, i'm leaving the 27th for poughkeepsie. so if you wanna see me, let's make plans asap, k?

p.s. i now also love bowling alleys as well as gas stations.

i was so afraid of going under

yesterday- mini road-trip to tilton with rachael and laura which involved kurt cobain journal-reading at outlet shops and frustration at our passive waitress at the tilt'n diner. it was fun.

todaaaay, kristi and i pulled a major teenybopper move and headed to the pheasant lane mall to see ryan cabrera...that sexy, sexy dude who actually happens to be really talented. AND he's ashlee simpson's ex. hehehe.

however, we didn't realize our adventure also involved sleazy gross pop singers and white rappers. but it did. oh, did it ever.

oh man, we were psyched. cute/gross.

Kristi bought the new Taking Back Sunday CD for her bro...

and I got the Sounds...ew you can see up my nose & look at my green nails.

we headed to the stage, and became obsessed with this DJ dude who started dancing to various songs.

I tried to get him break-dancing but failed miserably.

this made me laugh. really hard. her name was "giorgi". horrible. she lip-synched and several punk kids started screaming hysterically to be funny. note the half-shag tech dude looking on.

then we had to watch Sullee, the white rapper. the 50-cent-esque dude in the red who was part of his "posse" slapped my hand and it was funny.

like omg it's ryan! look at all the fools who came to see this guy.
...

i think the guy in the green was a kiss 108 dj and he was really annoying.

i love the fact that he was drinking tea.

uhhh HI. to quote ashlee, he makes me want to "lala in the kitchen, on the floor".

after he answered a few questions about his boxers and ashlee simpson, he took a break for a while and disappeared. since he was late in his arrival back to perform, kristi and i hypothesized that he was smoking it up with mall security. YES, that's it.

then there was a singing contest with reeeally good people. and there was a lanky guy in it! and i was like..."represent, dude."

yeeeuh. excuse my retarded flash.

dear lord this picture is great.

we stole a random card from FYE but didn't stick around to deal with all the girls in the autograph line. it was greeeeat though. ryanxcore.

on a more serious note, this summer and high school in general have been totally amazing. when i was younger, i never understood how kids could ever want to just leave everything and go to college. but when you get to that point, it just seems like time for a new start. and as much as you will miss the people and places and experiences that have brought you to where you are today, and while you will still keep in touch with your closest friends, you can't do anything but simply appreciate everyone and everything else that has impacted you, and move on to the next new beginning.

that was really random. but the moral of this entry is that ryan cabrera is cool.

We live in a beautiful world.

I find myself in quite the predicament...I have a sudden need to update (a sure sign of LJ addiction), yet no update-worthy material. At this point, I turn to those privileged people with whom I am chatting on AIM with to provide me with inspiration. So far, this is all that has come of it:

shatteredxdaze: today i saw a woman with not only her arm sticking out of her car window...
shatteredxdaze: but also her head
shatteredxdaze: and i thought...
shatteredxdaze: that could be dangerous
shatteredxdaze: I WANT MONEY BITCH! I GOT BILLS!

ScottieWags: write about how scottiebones is amazing
(Amazing, he is! In fact, possible the MOST amazing, rad, and sweet dude ever. SERIOUSLY.)

COOL.

Yeah, when I was driving home from the movie theatre tonight (where I saw collateral, which was surprisingly good...but tom cruise with gray hair = NO), I had the "emo"-est (shush) moment everrrr. After first listening to The Smiths' "How Soon Is Now?", Coldplay's "Don't Panic" came on. And then it starting raining. Then it started pouring. And I randomly just started crying 'cause I'm a loser like that. Go me! haha.

So what, I'm better off every day...

I'm babysitting right now...well more like the kids just went golfing across the street and I get to lounge around.

After my random family gathering the other day, I had a chance to feed my latest ice cream addiction with "cake batter"...the ice cream had flippin' chunks of cake in it. I was in love. Meanwhile, I reminisced about my Quikava loitering days as I watched the employees slack off.

I picked up Kristi that night and we had a danceparty in her brother's room to the strange combination of whitesnake, petey pablo, black eyed peas and sublime since the bass on his stereo is insane. I proceeded to feel awkward when he walked in as we were whipping our sweatshirts around our heads. mehh. We went swinging at some Bedford Playground and that was fun too.

Sunday was running errands with Jacob and Jamie...including the incident which shall be stricken from our memories forever due to it's creepiness. OK, i might as well say it- this creepy-looking dude with an afro comes up to me, pointing for about 2 minutes, and finally says "myspace.com". To quote the classic movie Snow Day, "What kind of sicko?" He proceeds to introduce himselves to us and babble about random topics for 15 minutes before we run away. That's what I get for putting myself out there, I suppose...but it was freaky to the max.

Ohh man, for all of you who know of my favorite hot topic employee Jesse, I caught a glimpse of him (her?) yesterday with shoulder-length curly hot pink hair and matching pink & black top and pants. He's amazing.

In other recent developments, Andy kicked my ass in bowling yesterday.

Since I'm in Leo Hall at Marist, Meg and I have decided our mascot to be Leo DiCaprio. Leo...Leo? Get it? Genius! And taking a cue from Meg, can all of you marist kids post your housing info (well, everyone besides kari, jared, meg and sonia)...I keep confusing myself as to who's living where.

Warped Tour on the 19th...yeee-uh. and will someone be awesome and come with me to the mall this saturday to see ryan cabrera? pleease.

Minus the below-mentioned drama, the past few days have been generally pretty uneventful.

I went to Santos a few nights ago and had cheesecake ice cream and it was possibly the best ice cream ever. Jammed in Rachael's car to old 2ge+her and BSB on the way to Wal-Mart where there appeared to be some sort of baptist church group invading the parking lot...it was quality. Lots of degrassi/daria watching ensued afterwards and the following night.

The drama that's been going on for the past few days is really not cool and it makes me extremely sad. That's all I have to say about it since I don't want to bring this stuff onto LJ.
Ahhh.

ANYWAYS, I finally saw Napoleon Dynamite yesterday, and it was the funniest/best movie. EVER. "GOSH!" I did not stop laughing once. "Why the flip is grandma at the dunes?" "We have to do a flippin' skit?"
And my favorite sequence, besides the incredible dancing one:

Nathan: Napoleon, give me some of your tots.
Napoleon Dynamite: No, go find your own.
Nathan: Come on, give me some of your tots.
Napoleon Dynamite: No, I'm freakin' starving! I didn't get to eat anything today.
Nathan: [kicks the tots]
Napoleon Dynamite: Ugh! Gross! Freakin' idiot!

I must see it again.

Also, I bought a flat iron recently and my hair is finally normal...woooo.

Dorm shopping the other day was great until I ran into Thomas Rossi, who informed me that his roommate is ("it's right up your alley, Kim!") in a rock band. I feel bad for the poor kid...he'll end up kicking T.R's ass!

...I really can't wait to go to Marist. My hall is gonna be awesome, I just know it.

I get to see Kristi today, but first is a random family dinner in Mass with my grandparents. goodtimes.

(lowlight???)

-one word: shagfest! i died every day. the total count: +/-25, and 4 afros. INCLUDING: Two "nu-metal" shag brothers (they came to be known as this because i saw them every day i was there in some random place, and each day they were wearing linkin park/korn/limp bizkit shirts), a heavenly angel with a brown shag and sunglasses who i saw the first day strolling through downtown, 3 hours later on the top of a mountain, and then 2 days later leaning against a car. FATE. A taplike boy, a chilly lookalike, a lanky backpacked shag with a swizzle stick in his mouth, and two blonde brothers eating ice cream. Even on the way home today, they seem to follow me. At a random seafood restaurant taken over by a tour group of senior citizens, i saw a freakin' shag baking apple crisp things in the bakery booth in front of my table. dammit.

-our hotel had a tiki bar.
This is a revolutioooon

The past few days have been pretty great. On Wednesday, my friend Kim from Lyndeborough, her mom, and my mom went shopping. I didn't get much, but I ran into Bruce and he gave me a Hot Topic gift card. Yay. I visited Jacob (jacobmeade) at the library, got some quality CDs, balanced a dime on my nose, and left.

Thursday afternoon, I met up with Mary (athena5905) at Panera for a bit and had a nice time catching up on things since it's been since like...February.

Yesterday (ahh this is turning into one of those "and then i did this" entries... oh well.) Julie and I hammocked it up for a bit and then went poster shopping at Newbury Comics. I got a reeeeally cute Breakfast Club poster for my dorm. Though, I haven't reeeeally put a lot of effort into my dorm decorations yet. Probably a bad thing.

And finally, last night I picked up Jamie (coconutical) and Julie (thisvintagelife) and we headed to the TREOS show at Drifters. Lots of beauty there- Jamie and I proceeded to die quite frequently as we saw tightpants, tees, lots of hair, and bruce lookalikes. Drifters is pretty rad...much more teen-conducive than Curly's. The only annoying thing was having to sit through 3 "eh" bands before TREOS actually went on....in the sweltering heat of the place. We made half of an emo rap on the back of receipts, which was kinda bad.

Anyways, it was worth it as far as I'm concerned, because TREOS rocks every time I see them. There were some hardcore fans moshing, and dripping sweat on Jamie, but it was okay since we were both just rocking out, and admiring the elusive, wonderful Alex Bars. Before the show, we would spot him at one place and then all of a sudden he would appear again from a completely different area. Our conversation about this: "Who-what-when-where-how?" "That's cute." "That's hot". Anyways, he also sang to himself, stretched in weird poses, and just looked generally amazing- plus he had a duffel bag. Aw yeah. Though they didn't play "The Art of Subversion", they still rocked. I really hope they make it big (or bigger than they are). Jamie/Julie- reeeally random discovery- is this not the blonde roof boy? I think it is. whoa.

Random- Anyone seen "The Assistant" on MTV with Andy Dick? Hilaaaarious! "Somebody's gonna get :::scissor sounds:: CLIPPED!" oh man.

Um yeah, so I'm leaving tomorrow for Acadia with the parentals until Thursday. Leave me love and I'll talk to/see people when I get back!

Goodbye shrink-to-fit, Hello magical highway.

In the timeless words of NWA, "fuck tha police." Last night, julie hosted a fun and random summer barbeque (kirby- "i'm in fifth grade, bitch! you can't tell me nothin'!"). Later on began an incredibly scary search for the "creepiest motherfucking house ever" according to jamie- a search that led us into the depths of lyndeborough, included a deathly curve, and revealed a sketchy-ass abandoned illuminated building surrounded by pedophile vans. We somehow ended up in the center of wilton, and rejoiced in civilization. But we still haven't found the house.

Later on, as we all left julie's parking lot to head home, the po's were, indeed, out in full force. i realized that one was in front of me, but he stealthily pulled off to the side so he could follow me for miles of uncomfortableness, but not pull me over. SWEET.

Anyways, speaking of summer adventures, here is the promised update on the accomplishment of our summer goals:

1) Find out where Scooby & Shaggy live: they're too mysterious, damn it. we will find out, but for now having Zac pump our gas is sufficient..."That'll be 23 dollars".
2) <s>Find and frequently hang out in "the sac"</s>: we found the sac and it sucked. but the other day rachael, jen and i were teleported there mysteriously. freaky.
3) Make another amazing documentary video of our summer: ohhh, we will.
4) <s>Have a Eurotrip/Breakfast Club viewing for those deprived kids who have not seen it</s>: "fun fact, you made out with your sister, man!"
5) <s>Go thrifting in Boston</s>: garment district...represent.
6) Several road trips to various places: not so much...we still have a few weeks.
7) Network w/the kids in our class that hang out drunk in Julie's parking lot and crash a party: networking has slightly begun...the crashing is next.
8) <s>4 words- I Love the 90's</s>: what a glorious week of nightly fiestas it was.
9) <s>Go to some (or at least one other) good concert</s>: phantom planet/damone/washington social club...it was a legendary night of freakouts and brooding rock gods.

Also as promised, the shag guide that has already caused a ruckus of praise and anger in the shaggy hair LJ community...pssh. Guide to Shagsters. It's worth a good laugh/swoon or two.

Anyone want to go to the TREOS show Friday at Drifter's with me? Aaaand I am still eagerly awaiting Napoleon Dynamite's opening around here...so far I can't find anywhere that's playing it. Ugh.

Highlight of today so far was without a doubt the Ashlee Simpson sing-a-long that occurred while waiting in line at Charlotte Russe. I faintly hear the girl behind me murmuring "pieces, pieces, pieces of me..." and soon the cashier is breaking into song as well. i joined in because i felt awkward and because that song is quality. tonight i'm finally seeing "saved!" in wilton. i am filled with christ's love, fo sho.

quick update: "saved!" was amazing, as expected. macaulay dancing in a wheelchair will be forever treasured. as will be the beautiful yawning shag we saw. and the flamboyant man strutting off to his car after a post-movie lover's quarrel (or so we figured). burns road is FREAKY. and we finally found "the house"! we think.

i nearly lost you there

Well, well, well...I must say that this summer, though it's going by entirely too fast, has been extremely fun so far. This entry might be on the lengthy side, but meeeh.

Wednesday was made of a disappointing mall trip, a strange car chase with random dudes, and "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" in which i could not get enough of the drunken british rock star's antics and pleas for onion rings.

Thursday was fun-filled as well, as Julie, Jen, and I headed down to Boston to check out the Garment District. I began to freak on the T as I started confusing myself (and my friends) as to where we were to get off, but no thanks to a random garment district-y looking boy and much thanks to some random girl, we were assured, and soon we found ourselves sitting in and sifting through piles and piles of clothes (for $1 a pound, woo!)

However, I found my bargain upstairs- this sweet top that I took to deconstructing a bit.

Note the plain-ish neckline.

In case you're curious, the text on the shirt says "There are two Statues of Liberty in New York. One for the immigrants out on Liberty Island and one for the weirdos at 222 West Twenty-Third Street. One might imagine that the marker tacked onto the Chelsea Hotel's Victorian facade reads 'Give me your junkies, your geniuses, your men in eye makeup, yearning to lay low.' But the real sign lacks Emma Lazarus pizzazz. It straightforwardly announces that the historic landmark opened in 188(?) as one of the city's earliest cooperative apartment buildings. It became a hotel in 1905, and has been the epicenter of the relatively respectable literary...". COOL.

After a little chopping, I came up with this snazzy thang. Check the off-the-shoulder action (And forgive that cursed black tank top that I always seem to be wearing in my pictures...I really don't wear it all that much, gaaaah).

and because everything looks better in black and white...

Also on Thursday, we saw the ghost of Mikey in the center of town- well, it was him but he was deathly pale- it was surely a miracle that we saw him since he has been unreachable for the past month. At least he's alive. Ohhh, Mikey and his substance abuse.

Friday involved s'mores and some much-appreciated my so-called life/degrassi watching (spinner's tongue ring is it's own character as far as i'm concerned), and of course, shags. Speaking of which, Jen and I created a "Shag Guide"- it was time for classifications! I need to put the finishing touches on it, but it will be surfacing soon.

Waking up this morning at 4:30 was "wicked sweet" (and by that i mean horrible). However, it was necessary to see dear Jen off on her journey back to Vegas. After some struggles with muffin orders at dunkin' donuts AND a rock band sighting- perhaps 80's hair band RATT though I couldn't be sure...more investigating is in order-edit: it was Vince Neil's (Motley Crue) touring band who had just played a show at Hampton last night. Why oh why did we not get their autographs?- Anyways, our fun week of gas stations, malls, amusement parks and thrifting has ended. but it was a blast! And so my summer continues on...an update on the accomplishment of the summer goals will follow!

Oh yeah, and Adam Green (strange but brilliant, and hot, singer) has the same birthday as me. Word.

Jen has been visiting from Vegas since Saturday and the past few days included a fun and beautiful show with kelly and, as she called him, "hotpants geoff"- it was excellent. also, trips to newbury comics and the mall (and inadvertent conor oberst lookalike sightings and more strange coincidences), a new TV obsession, and late night bonding.

i recommend that everyone see "a cinderella story". it's AMAZING and the whole cheesy mask thing makes more sense in the context of the movie.

i love gas stations and the people that work at them. seriously.

mega-edit: canobie tonight was a ton of fun. from the gas station incident (now i really love people who work at them) on, we knew we were going to have a blast.

highlights include: tight pants, ryan ridiculous, running into kelly, matching belts (<333), fried dough, standing in trees, flying/glowing hair, high fives, "electrocore dance party rides", shags with rifles, ethnic creeps named mikey, and the "mis-cue-si!" incident which we derived an important equation from:

Jamie + Dirty sketchy smirking Mexican + Roller coaster = Disaster + Bath in Disinfectant. hahahahaha.

it was definitely good times.

Seen in the mall food court:

A large woman sloppily eating an Au Bon Pain sandwich. She picks up her cell phone and begins YELLING (though not angrily, mind you...just obnoxiously) about dill, croissants, and other various food items that do not seem to connect at all. Suddenly, she switches into Spanish mode, but only for a moment, to say "they're muy bueno". WTF. Meanwhile, I am trying not to fall on the floor cracking up, and the effeminate male hairdresser sitting at the table across from me is giving her the most hilarious disgusted look ever before laughing in a condescending manner at the woman, who is now applying eyeliner to her disgusting over made-up face.

Amuse yourselves with this neat "what tree are you" thingy that I stole from Kari...I am apparently:
Ash Tree (Ambition) -- extremely attractive, vivacious, impulsive,
demanding, does not care for criticism, ambitious, intelligent,
talented, likes to play with fate, can be very egotistic, reliable, restless lover, sometimes money rules over the heart, demands attention, needs love and much emotional support.

HMM. i am hardly that needy, pssh!

Dec 23 to Jan 01 -
i love the 90's rocks my life. my little kickoff party was successful, and the show provided everyone with some great random quotes (these are paraphrased):

"i rollerblade on the street(?), i rollerblade on guardrails, i rollerblade on yo momma's ass"- michael ian black

"we must save the rainforest, and the only way to do it is with our groins!" -hal sparks

"it was for pre-teens who were into pre-bondage"-michael ian black again.

i flirted via eye contact yesterday with a slightly shady fro-y wal-mart employee who i've seen there before. why does my love life suck.

so i did one of these dumb surveys for some reason even though i'm anti-survey. and i didn't even do all of it. so i better get a lot of in-depth comments as a result of this effort! or not.

1.

just got back from the phantom planet/damone/washington social club show at axis...it was amazing and definitely worth the setbacks that much of our group encountered in actually getting to boston!

washington social club is my new favorite band, seriously. with lines like "what are you thinking about? i'm thinking about the drugs, sweet drugs." (quote of the night #1) and "i spent the night falling in and out of love with the bathroom door" how can you go wrong? the lead singer greeted us with "what the fuuuck" and frequently spazzed out with hand motions and orgasm-faced guitar solos. the bassist was mega-eye candy and had the best name ever- evan featherstone- and i chatted with him briefly afterwards..sweeet. jamie and i were astounded at the vast amount of beauty tonight, both in band and audience members.

we made two new acquaintances, indy and jon, who left us to mosh. it was sad. damone disappointed me live, actually...i wasn't feeling their set since they didn't do that many older songs and noelle's voice just sounded off to me. ehh.

phantom planet is the best band. ever. period. live, they just kick ass. they even played "the guest" and the beginning of "do the panic"-woo. alex looked slightly heroin-skinny/anorexic, but i love him still. second quote of the night: "she rocks out a lot"- rose (about julie). ahh, don't we all, especially to PP. but, yes, phantom planet owns.

oh yeah, yesterday kelly and i went to the mall and out for ice cream where we laughed at a retarded bird that careened into my car almost. though we didn't accomplish our original goal, it was still fun!

what an amazing night. yeee-uh!

the breakfast club is such a classic, great movie. i don't think i'll ever get sick of it. i accomplished one of our summer goals on thursday by hosting a eurotrip/breakfast club get-together which was fun. the dude in eurotrip who tries to be david spade is amazing.

speaking of movies, spiderman 2 is also really good. james franco is, for lack of a better term, "the sex".

tonight i went to the fireworks at school where my otherwise pretty boring day was completely made when kirby let me listen to a hilarious ghetto-sounding voicemail from two high pals who shall remain nameless for now. all i could understand was "yo", "bullshit", "fo sho" and "backseat". wonderful. we were surrounded by evil young boys who, upon seeing a passing plane, started chanting in unison, "hit the plane! hit the plane!" disturbing.

applebee's followed, along with some ashtray mishaps and me getting chocolate sauce on my brand new marist sweatshirt. grr!

so i'm really excited, though...next friday we're hitting up axis again to see phantom planet (again) and...and...damone! getting to see two of my very favorite bands play together is way too rad.

happy 4th of july, kids!
